Alfred Santos

Chief Executive Officer

Alfred Santos joins HealthSouth Regional Hospital of Northern Virginia as the new chief executive officer on August 15, 2016. Al previously served as the administrator of Lincoln County Medical Center. He is a retired U.S. Army Medical Service Corps officer and has more than 30 years of management and broad leadership experience in the healthcare industry as a chief operating officer, regional director of operations and senior director of integrated health services operations. His experience includes managing and leading facilities in Seoul, South Korea, Arizona, Alabama, Ohio, Oklahoma, Hawaii, Texas, Washington D.C., and Florida including hospitals, clinics, service centers and health insurance plans. He is Six Sigma black belt trained in quality and process improvement and received a bachelor's degree in finance from the University of California, Berkeley and a master's degree in healthcare administration from Baylor University in Waco, Texas.

Shaik Samdani

Shaik Samdani, M.D.

Medical Director

Dr. Samdani was appointed as medical director at HealthSouth Northern Virginia in 2011 and opened a private practice at the same location. His philosophy of service to the patient along with the support of a great rehabilitation team creates excellence in both patient care and outcomes. In 2005, Dr. Samdani started working as medical director of the inpatient rehabilitation facility at Henrico Doctors Hospital, Richmond, Virginia. Dr. Samdani is a board certified physiatrist. He graduated from Kurnool Medical College, India, in 1988 in the top ten of his class. Dr. Samdani has completed a general surgery residence and received a master's degree in surgery. He moved to the United States in 1998 and worked as a house staff (PGY-1) in Montefiore Medical Center/Albert Einstein College of Medicine. He enrolled in the physical medicine and rehabilitation residency program at the SUNY at Stony Brook University in New York. He is a member of the American Medical Association, American Academy of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation, Medical Society of State of New York and Richmond Academy of Medicine.

Shaik Samdani, M.D. is an independent private practice physician whose office is located at the hospital.

Curtis Huffman

Curtis Huffman, COTA

Director of Marketing Operations

Curtis is the director of marketing operations and has oversight of all marketing and communication functions for the hospital. He brings experience in rehabilitation healthcare and proven success in brand positioning and community marketing. Prior to joining HealthSouth, Curtis was the assistant department head with Rehabilitation Management. Curtis’s previous hospital experience includes, Genesis, Camden Clark Memorial and Charleston Area Medical Center Health System. Curtis is a graduate of Mountain State University with an Associate of Science and is a certified occupational therapist. 

Vidhya Kannan

Vidhya Kannan, PT, DPT, C/NDT

Director of Therapy Operations

Vidhya joined HealthSouth in June 2010 when the hospital opened and served in various positions. After serving as a manager, she was promoted as director of therapy operations.  Vidhya’s clinical background includes a doctorate degree in physical therapy from Shenandoah University and more than 12 years of experience as a physical therapist. She is certified in neuro-developmental techniques, utilized in treating brain related impairments. She takes pride in leading a team of exceptional therapists who strive for excellence while focusing on restoring function and promoting safety through evidence-based practice. Vidhya is an avid gardener and a mother of two boys. 

Heather E. Norman

Heather E. Norman, MSN, RN, NE-BC, CNL

Chief Nursing Officer

Heather is a registered nurse with more than 15 years of healthcare leadership experience. She earned a master’s degree in nursing from the University of Virginia, and board certifications as a nurse executive and clinical nurse leader. Heather served on active duty in the U.S. Army for seven years as a combat medic and has a broad range of clinical experiences in acute care trauma, orthopedics, labor and delivery. Heather previously served director-level positions in long-term care, sub-acute rehabilitation and dialysis. Most recently, she served as the chief clinical officer for the largest multi-specialty, integrative medicine practice in Northern Virginia. Her favorite aspects of nursing are being able to advocate for her patients and making a positive difference in the lives of others.

Aman Rajpal

Amandeep Rajpal

Director of Case Management

Aman began her HealthSouth career as a senior case manager in 2015 and transitioned into the role of director of case management in 2016. She has experience in marketing and strategic planning in the healthcare sector. She earned a bachelor’s degree in honors school in English and a MBA degree from India. She has a second master’s degree in health systems management (executive management) from George Mason University, Fairfax, Va.

Lorraine Ross Evans

Lorraine A. Ross-Evans, BS HRM, MSc.

Director of Human Resources

As the director of human resources, Lorraine brings more than 18 years of experience in human resource management to her role. Prior to joining HealthSouth in 2014, Lorraine held the position of head of organizational leadership and development for Howard Hughes Medical Institute, one of this nation’s wealthiest philanthropies where she oversaw leadership development and employee engagement, talent acquisition, and diversity initiatives at the Janelia Farm Campus in Northern Virginia. Lorraine holds a BS in human resource management and a master's in organizational leadership and development from Southern New Hampshire University. She resides in Herndon, Va. with her husband.

Erin Sherwood

Erin Sherwood

Director of Pharmacy

Erin joined HealthSouth in July 2010 as a part-time pharmacist and was promoted to director of pharmacy in October of the same year. Prior to working at HealthSouth, she worked at Giant Pharmacy for more than 20 years serving as a staff pharmacist and manager of three pharmacies. Erin completed a pre-pharmacy program at Mary Washington College, now named the University of Mary Washington, and graduated from the Medical College of Virginia School of Pharmacy with a bachelor's degree in pharmacy. Erin is a member of VPha and also is a preceptor for Medical College of Virginia School of Pharmacy.

Joseph Williams

Joseph Williams, BSN, RN

Director of Quality Improvement/Risk Management

Joe joined HealthSouth Rehabilitation Hospital of Northern Virginia in 2013 as part of nursing administration. In 2015, he transitioned to the role of director of quality and risk management, responsible for maintaining the hospital’s readiness for accreditation survey, facilitating performance improvement and addressing complaints. Prior to joining HealthSouth, Joe served as a case manager for Vitas Healthcare and staff nurse for Novant Healthcare Systems.
